What Happens When You Try to Automate Cold Outreach Without Making It Sound Robotic

We’ve been working on a cold outreach workflow internally, mainly to solve a problem we were facing ourselves.
Finding the right companies, researching them, figuring out who to contact, and then writing a relevant message takes a lot of time.
So we started automating the process with n8n, Apify, AI, and Gmail.
The workflow can now find potential companies, research what they do, identify possible automation opportunities, generate a message based on that research, and send the outreach.
What we’re trying to avoid is the usual:
“Hi, we provide AI automation services. Are you interested?”
Instead, if we’re contacting a real estate company, for example, the system looks for areas like lead qualification, follow-ups, CRM, or appointment booking that could actually be relevant to them.
It’s still a work in progress, and we’re testing different parts of the workflow to see what actually works.
But building it has made us think differently about outbound.
What part of your sales or prospecting process would you automate if you could?
Why this fits Founders Today better:
Sounds like an actual agency experience, not a promotional article.
Talks about what you built and why.
Includes imperfections: “still a work in progress” and testing.
Avoids exaggerated claims and sales language.
Uses a simple founder-to-founder discussion at the end.
Doesn't try to sound overly polished or “AI-written.”
